About
Over the past ten years my work has transformed from semi-realistic, simplified close-ups of my subjects into a floating compositions that merge abstract expressionism with a touch of realism. It's a journey to another, undiscovered world and to identify with the sensitivity in the world around us. In my paintings, I don't intend to replicate objects as photo-realistic objects, but to capture the utmost uniqueness of life. Illustrating my subjects, I often pay less attention to shapes, textures, or real colors and emphasize just on a small fragment, sometimes a very tiny detail, in order to insinuate an idea. That approach leads me to concentrate on what I feel and not what I see or know about the subject. Also, it helps me to effectively use visuals to depict a story about my subject. My art captures just an indication of a subject to leave the rest for my viewer's imagination to create the unique picture."Unperturbed Night" Painting featured in The EQUUS Magazine, December 2012 ![]() *** “Calm Hearts” - poster print

| Judge's comment: This fascinating composition swirls with dramatic colors that nevertheless seem to convey a sense of stillness in the midst of motion. The horses exist in a transitory realm, yet our eyes are drawn to the dramatic focal points of ears, eyes, mouths, and nostrils, as if the horse’s themselves are focused on those senses as well. The expression in the prominent horse’s eye, and the juxtaposition of the two noses, conveys to me a subtle communication passing from one horse to the next. This composition is strikingly unique, yet it is more than just an abstract study; for it conveys the artist’s awareness of the essential aspects of horse’s expressions and behaviors. ~ Kim McElroy |

| Press Release: "Bremond House Gallery announces the opening of its one-person show, Nature’s Sensual Beauty, featuring Polish-born artist, Iwona Jankowski, which will run from February 14 until March 30, 2008. After graduating from the School of Visual Arts in Gdynia, Poland, Jankowski studied drawing and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland. Jankowski’s Sexy Flowers® and Mottled Horses™ paintings are collected throughout United States and abroad, including collectors in Tahiti, United Kingdom, Belgium, Australia, Canada, Dominican Republic, Japan, New Zealand, Poland, Germany, Austria, Sweden, France, Holland, Greece, Singapore, and Ireland. “Iwona is an extraordinary artist with a knack for merging abstract expressionism with a touch of realism," stated David E. Warner, Executive Director of Bremond House Gallery. “I can’t imagine a more appropriate artist for our Valentine's show,” added Warner. “Her Sexy Flowers hint at the 1920s style of Georgia O’Keeffe, yet embody a more current, contemporary perspective that crosses generational lines.” A champagne reception is planned between the hours of 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., February 14, 2008. The artist will be on hand throughout the evening to talk with visitors and answer questions. The Valentine's Day reception is open to the public." |

"Sensual and intricately detailed, Iwona Jankowski's intimate views of flower blossoms are painted with an obvious passion for the exquisite beauties of nature - the soft sheen of the petal, the voluptuous contours of the bloom, and the extraordinary spectrum of color found therein. Jankowski's flowers are not confined by the frame of the canvas, but rather take on monumental proportions as they unfold magnificently, exceeding the bounds of our vision. In these august compositions, organic forms sweep elegantly from edge to edge, like vast landscapes of color. Jankowski paints in naturalistic hues, beautifully capturing the angelic whites, the lush purples, and the radiant reds and oranges of the blossoms she paints. Born in Poland, Jankowski studied at the School of Visual Arts in Gdynia, Poland, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland. She moved to the United States in 1981, and has participated in numerous exhibitions in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and Hamburg, Germany. Hundreds of her original paintings, including artwork from her most popular "Sexy Flowers" series, can be found in collections worldwide. Jankowski has also been published in the Davenport Art Reference and Price Guide, and Who's Who in American Art." "ARTmine" - December 2004 |

| "Iwona Jankowski’s talent and passion shine in her immensely detailed and inspiring works. In her “Horses” series, she captures the intense and alluring natural beauty of one of the most respected and miraculous animals on Earth. The radiant colors used to depict the horse are breathtaking and mystical. They create the sense of movement giving life to the paintings and providing a window to the graceful and powerful world of the horse. Her portrayal of this magnificent creature is truly of the utmost uniqueness. With her “Sexy Flowers” ™ series, Iwona gives an extremely detailed view of flora using vivid colors and eloquent brush strokes, capturing the innate and complex splendor of every petal. The visual stimulation triggers the senses into believing that one is so close to the flower that they could actually smell its sweet bouquet." "eArtZone" - 2005 |
